Who We Are
Founded by
Fr. Luigi Butera Vullo
Father Luigi Butera Vullo was born on May 22, 1932 in Marianópoli, on the island of Sicily, Italy. He lived through the turbulent years of the world wars, which took place in Europe in the first half of the 20th century. In this context, Father Luigi Butera responded to God’s call and entered the diocesan seminary of Caltanisetta, Italy. A strong missionary spirit led him to take the path of religious missionary life.
After many years of discernment and being led by the Holy Spirit
Fr. Luigi was called to initiate two communities that would be very similar in every aspect. The communities later on became religious
Institutes and to this day both communities obtain pontifical rite.
The two communities are:

Missionaries Servants of the Word (MSP)

Evangelize the Laity to Evangelize with the Laity
We are a large Catholic family that was born to take on the task of evangelization, through the preparation and sending of lay missionaries for a short-term experience and forming religious missionaries for a lifetime experience of self-donation.

Sisters in Prayer Life
In the community sisters have the opportunity to enter into a state of life that is semi-cloister. Once in there we usually call them sisters in prayer life. While the sisters out in parishes and in missions are also called to live in prayer the sisters that enter into the experience of prayer life may not leave the convent premises.
